Rail Freight Corridor Atlantic, Advisory Groups Meeting (TAG-RAG)

Bordeaux, 10 December 2024 – The Advisory Groups (AG) Meeting of the Atlantic Rail Freight Corridor (RFC) took place on 10 December 2024 at the SNCF Réseau premises in Bordeaux, with remote participation available via Teams. The meeting brought together Freight Railway Undertakings, Terminal Operators, and Ports with operations along the international freight corridor.

Stakeholders from across the rail freight sector gathered for the Advisory Groups (AG) Meeting of the Atlantic Rail Freight Corridor (RFC), held at SNCF Réseau’s premises in Bordeaux. The meeting provided an essential platform for dialogue and collaboration, uniting Freight Railway Undertakings, Terminal Operators, and Ports operating along this vital international freight corridor. Remote participation via Teams ensured broad engagement.

 

Organized by the Management Board of the Atlantic Rail Freight Corridor, the meeting is part of the governance framework established by Regulamento (UE) n.º 913/2010, de 22 de setembro, which mandates the creation of advisory groups to ensure close cooperation between the corridor and its stakeholders. The discussions highlighted the corridor’s dedication to fostering strong partnerships and aligning with European transport objectives.

 

The agenda tackled several pressing topics critical to the growth and efficiency of rail freight operations, including:

  • Temporary Capacity Restrictions (TCRs): The Management Board presented innovative approaches to coordinating TCRs and minimizing their impact on freight traffic, highlighting infrastructure managers’ proactive efforts to support operators.
  • Revised RTE-T Regulation: DG MOVE emphasized the strengthened cooperation required between the RFC and AG members, fostering greater alignment and synergies in response to the new regulatory framework.
  • Performance Excellence: The Management Board unveiled updated Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) designed to enhance the corridor's service quality and operational transparency.
  • Market Potential: Participants explored the transformative market opportunities unlocked by investment projects in the Iberian Peninsula and France, while addressing challenges and strategies to overcome barriers.

 

A highlight of the meeting was the series of engaging presentations by:

  • The representative of Railway Undertakings, showcasing their dynamic contributions to the Atlantic RFC;
  • The representative of terminals and ports, emphasizing their pivotal role in enabling seamless intermodal connections;
  • The European Transport Corridor (ETC) for the Atlantic, outlining strategic priorities and future collaboration opportunities.

 

This vibrant session reinforced the shared vision and determination of stakeholders to drive rail freight innovation, sustainability, and connectivity across Europe.
